About Neo
AI is the most significant shift in how work gets done since the advent of the Internet — yet most organizations fail to capture its value. Neo is changing that.
Founded by Bhavin Turakhia — Co-Founder of Zeta, Radix, and Titan — Neo is building an integrated, AI-first suite of products that capture work, centralize context, and make AI a first-class participant in every workflow:
Tasket — A radically reimagined, AI-native, work management platform that centralizes context and makes AI delegation seamless for all work.
Friday — AI Assistant, co-worker and agent platform, pre-integrated into Tasket, Studio, Drive and 1000+ SaaS platforms.
Studio — AI-native suite for co-creating docs, spreadsheets and diagrams collaboratively with humans and agents.
Drive — AI-native repository, where humans and agents can co-work on files.
Scribe — AI assistant for meetings that goes beyond note-taking and actually does your work while on the call.
About the role
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a small team of senior engineers building the Neo suite — owning delivery, growing the people on your team, and staying hands-on in the technical work.
We are proponents of leveraging best-in-breed AI tools at every step of the engineering lifecycle — design, development, review, and testing. This requires a different engineering mindset: a lean team of senior, hands-on, AI-adept engineers, resulting in ultra-rapid iteration cycles and fast output. You will own and oversee this approach for your team, from design through to production.
This is a role for a hands-on leader who stays close to the code, sets a high bar, and is as comfortable in an architecture discussion as in a career conversation.
Job Location
Bangalore, India (100% on-site)
Responsibilities
Team & people
Lead and grow a small team of senior engineers — hire well, set clear expectations, give honest feedback, and help people level up.
Own performance and career growth for your team, and build a culture where strong engineers do their best work.
Delivery & execution
Own delivery end to end: turn product goals into shipped software, and keep the team moving at the pace a lean AI-native team is capable of.
Unblock the team — remove what stands between them and the outcome, and own the hard calls and escalations.
Technical leadership
Stay hands-on and close to the code; set technical direction with your senior engineers and hold the bar on architecture and quality.
Make the trade-off calls on scope, design, and what's worth building.
AI-first ways of working
Drive the team's AI-first workflow: spec-driven delivery, coding agents doing first-pass implementation, and the harness (specs, skills, evals, guardrails) that keeps agent output reliable.
Raise the team's leverage by making good agent practice the default, not a one-off.
Product & collaboration
Work with product and design to shape what gets built and why, and push back when the cost isn't worth the outcome.
Own outcomes, not just deliverables and timelines.
Skills
AI-native engineering practice — Fluent in an agentic development workflow and able to lead a team that runs on it: spec-driven delivery, coding agents, and the harness (specs, skills, evals, guardrails) that makes agent output reliable.
Hands-on technical depth — Strong engineering fundamentals across a modern stack — Java, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go — enough to set technical direction, weigh in on architecture, and earn the trust of senior engineers.
Leading engineers — Lead, grow, and retain a team of senior engineers; set objectives, run honest performance reviews, and build real career-growth plans.
Delivery — Plan and ship across multiple projects; prioritise, manage dependencies, and keep timelines realistic without slowing the team down. Fluent with agile practices like Scrum and TDD, without being dogmatic about process.
Architecture & systems — Good understanding of distributed systems, the web stack, relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), and what it takes to keep systems scalable and maintainable.
Cloud & infrastructure — Worked with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure), message brokers, and application containers.
Communication & product sense — Communicate clearly with engineers, product, and leadership, and align the team around the right problems and the outcomes that matter.
Experience & Qualifications
8+ years building and delivering enterprise software across the full lifecycle, including at least 2 years directly managing engineers.
Hands-on background building large-scale applications, with a good understanding of the web stack, distributed systems, and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure), message brokers, and application containers.
Bachelor's/Master's in engineering — computer science, information systems, or equivalent.
